With a few days left to go before London Police provide additional details on charges laid against five former members of Canada's 2018 World Juniors team, the organization has issued a statement with more details on the news conference itself.
Perhaps the most interesting new detail is that London Police intend to live stream Monday's news conference on all of it's social media profiles.
"The London Police Service will be hosting a media conference on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 2 p.m. [ET] to provide an update related to a sexual assault allegation involving members of the 2018 Canadian world junior hockey team.
The press conference will be available via live-stream across our social media platforms. The streaming link will be shared immediately prior to the event."
Accredited media outlets are allowed to have representatives attend in person as long as they register in advance. According to its website, London Police has a presence on Facebook, X, Instagram, and Youtube.
As has been widely reported, five players were asked to turn themselves in to police in London, Ont., to answer to charges related to an alleged assault that took place at an event that included several members of Canada's 2018 World Juniors gold medal winning team. The five facing charges are Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers, Dillon Dube of the Calgary Flames, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote of the New Jersey Devils, and Alex Formenton, who had been playing in Switzerland. All five have stated their intent through their lawyers to fight allegations.
