Someone may want to tell the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens to save it for when the games actually count. Tempers flared Saturday night as the two teams squared off in preseason action, and a fight broke out between two unlikely names.
Earlier in the game, Patrik Laine of the Montreal Canadiens was knocked out of the game and will be lucky to play any time soon after an unfortunate collision with the Toronto Maple Leafs Cedric Paré.
That led to the Habs Arber Xhekaj getting booted from the game after going after Cerdric Pare with everything he had.
In the second period, The Montreal Canadiens Juraj Slafkovsky and Marshall Rifai of the Toronto Maple Leafs got into a scramble for the puck near the Leafs net when the two decided to drop the gloves and get into a spirited battle. Slafkovsky appeared to take a pretty pick punch that ended the fight, but was no worse for wear.
Marshall Rifai was cut in the scuffle, but seemed to enjoy himself.
Patrik Laine of the Montreal Canadiens did not return to the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs following the collision. It was the second player of the night to leave the game for the Habs as David Reinbacher was also forced out of the game after taking a hit.
The Montreal Canadiens are hoping they are at a point in their rebuild where they can at least play meaningful game near the end of the regular season. Injuries to key names won't help in the cause, and both Patrik Laine and David Reinbacher are tough losses.
