Colorado's Cale Makar has date with Player Safety after brutal hit on Jared McCann
With their first round series against the Seattle Kraken tied at 2, the Colorado Avalanche are going to be missing a top player for at least one upcoming game. The NHL's Department of Player Safety has announced Avs defenceman Cale Makar has a meeting with DoPS today to determine his punishment for a late hit on Jared McCann that took McCann out of the game.
McCann was nowhere near the puck at the time. Despite that, the penalty was reduced to a 2 minute minor after initially being tagged as a 5 minute major. It's hard to figure out how the referees made that determination.
The Kraken have already announced that McCann will miss game 5, and may be out even longer than that.
